"The Overseas Fabulous Pinay" is an upcoming TV series adaptation based on the acclaimed book by Donna A. Künzler. This series is a celebration of the vibrant spirit and experiences of Filipino women living abroad, aiming to empower and uplift Filipinas in diaspora while promoting self-love and increasing awareness of the Filipino people. Throughout the show, we aim to empower, uplift, and inspire audiences worldwide while shedding light on the unique journey of Filipino immigrants.
The Project
Donna published her book, titled "The Overseas Fabulous Pinay: A Modern Filipina's Guide to Thriving Abroad," to champion her causes of women's empowerment, education, and the well-being of migrant workers. These issues have always been close to Donna’s heart and she has been a vocal advocate of women’s rights, especially when it comes to gender based violence, through her involvement in the Breaking Silence Movement. In light of her advocacy and support for various social issues and professional achievements , Donna has thus been selected as the recipient of the Filipina Women’s Network’s (FWN) Most Influential Filipina Woman in the World Award 2023
Being chosen for the Most Influential Filipina Woman in the World Award (Global FWN100™) is the highest honor bestowed by FWN. Recipients become global citizens and allies in FWN's overarching goal: to have a Filipina woman leader in every sector of the economy.
The Global FWN100™ Award is a working award. Recipients are tasked with:
- "Paying Forward" by assisting FWN in developing next-generation projects that benefit the Filipina women community in their respective locations.
- Contributing to the communities where they reside, which have provided them with the opportunities to earn a livelihood, raise a family, and prosper.
- Reinventing themselves by cultivating their global presence.
- Establishing a personal legacy with the potential to influence the global community.
- Collaborating, investing, donating, and providing support to fellow awardees at the Filipina Summit to advance their Global Pitch projects.
Donna’s project of choice for the Global Pitch Forum has been this passion project, The OvFabPinay TV series.

The Story

Balancing the pressures of modern womanhood and adapting to a vibrant new culture, she discovers herself in a journey brimming with heart, humor, and unexpected twists."
First Series Synopsis
In the inaugural season of "The Overseas Fabulous Pinay” viewers are introduced to Maya, an ambitious Filipina in her early twenties who is very skeptical about living abroad. She finds herself accepting a lucrative job offer with one of the biggest professional services firms of the world that would ironically require her to move to Singapore. Promising herself to just give it a try for 2 years, she embarks on her overseas adventure (and misadventures) discovering her host country, the locals and the expat bubble, a faster pace of life and the realities of living alone and being a foreigner. Will she actually last 2 years in a country where she is a minority and only chili sauce is served in fast food restaurants?
